French classes for teens

For older children and teens, vocabulary, verbs and expressions are at the core of the program and presented through themes such as The House, Transportation, Health and Body parts, the Weather and the Calendar, Clothing, Food and Stores, Destinations, etc.

Some French books are being read and a variety of worksheets are also done in class. I observe traditions and point out cultural differences and similarities.

For teenagers and/or students who are already learning French at school and need some help, I reinforce what they are learning by following their program of studies as well as enhancing it with additional detailed information, vocabulary and cultural material. I find critical the need to use what has been learned by teaching how to build sentences and by conversing.

I believe strongly in speaking a language versus filling out blanks in a worksheet!

I tutor high-school students in the Naperville district 203 and 204 by following their textbook such as “Bon Voyage” or “Discovering French”. I explain in details all the grammatical points and help them use the vocabulary in conversation. I review the curriculum yearly with a French high school teacher in Naperville IL and work closely with the gifted students of the French school Avery Coonley in Downers Grove, Il.

I help students in high school or college to prepare for their French exams or Finals by spending time going over the critical points and leading them to excellent grades.

Some of my students attend the following schools below and improve their French language skills by using my tutoring services in addition to their normal French classes.

Classes for adolescents are one hour long.

How often are the classes?

Classes are every week, typically once per week (twice for students who need extra help).

Do you have a curriculum if my child starts French outside of school?

I do offer my own curriculum based on the adult one, starting with the basics then adding grammar, vocabulary as it would be done in school.

Which books do you use to teach?

I have written and built my French method with resources from different books, the student does not need to buy any books, grammar lessons will be given in class.

Which level do you tutor?

I tutor from French I to AP French and beyond (university level).

Une expérience vraiment inroyable.

This review is long overdue, but I am a past student at Naperfrench, and I received marvelous tutoring there. I studied with Anne for about a year and a half, and even in such a short time, her guidance was incredible. She was very dedicated to finding ways that helped me best learn and was very patient, but also ready to challenge me and pick at my brain in ways that benefited my growth in the language. Naperfrench is very collaborative and adjusts to the individual student’s needs and speed of progression. Anne is absolutely wonderful and the best French teacher I’ve ever had. I have been learning français with Anne for the past 8 years, starting at the age of ten. Her teaching style makes learning a language a lot of fun, from playing games to having stimulating conversations (all in french of course), there is never a dull moment with Anne. She is always praising her students for their effort and encouraging them to find ways to use French outside of class by watching French films or listening to French music. She tailors her teaching to each students’ needs, customizing class to ensure success for every student. I can now say that, with her help, I am fluent in French, even being able to converse with native French speakers during our trip to Paris. I have been studying French With Anne for 6 months now and I absolutely love it! She is so kind, and even when I am so frustrated with myself for getting the pronunciation wrong, she calms me down and just helps me through it.
